Opening Thursday 6 September (6-8pm)
Exhibition 6 - 16 September 2007
Expansive charcoal drawings from a viewpoint hovering over mountain ranges, and oils of rolling, abstract mountains, form this exhibition of recent works by Alison Binks. The paintings are inspired by her travels through Tibet in 2006. The larger works are accompanied by miniature glimpses of mountains and skies painted in oil on 15cm plywood squares. Although the work is based on mountainous landscapes many have the flowing feeling of seascapes and an ethereal quality surrounds them. Alison has previously exhibited in New York and London. Since returning to Melbourne in 2003 this is her first solo show. She lives and paints in St Kilda.
