After a large body of work that involved casting the interior spaces of polystyrene packaging in plaster I had become weary of the random nature of the process and decided to re-invent my work process. What appealed most was the oportunity of using precision powertools with plywood in order to have total control over the form.
Virtue was inspired by the double-pyramid in reference to the early timber works of Carl Andre. It was a revelation to be able to use shadow to portray form. The non-reflective matt blue finish
absorbs light and prevents the viewer from fully grasping the
intricacies of the form until further scrutiny.
