Ben Swinnerton started his career as a press photographer for the Dandenong Examiner in 1993, covering community-based news and sport in and around the Dandenong area, often shooting up to eight jobs a day.

In 1996, he started working part-time for the Herald-Sun on the Saturday
graveyard shift, from midnight to 8am. After a year covering
sports news and everything from car accidents to brawls in King St, he was
employed full time as a staff photographer for the biggest newspaper in
the country, The Herald-Sun. During his time with the Herald-Sun he has photographed news on a much larger scale, from local and international bands to following celebrities
paparazzi style. In 2001, he moved across to the commuter newspaper mX.

Through his photography he seeks to document his own experiences, to capture
stories and events as he sees them and to share with others, through the
media, the beauty and diversity of the world we live in.
