An enigma, a maverick, a controversial and charismatic Force of Nature.

After rave reviews in Edinburgh and London, actor Garry Roost brings his one-man show to BRIGHTSPACE  on Thursday 19th February.

“The job of the artist is always to deepen the mystery” Francis Bacon

The show looks at the life, art, psyche, sexuality, and philosophies of the great artist. Beaten by his father’s henchmen and banished from the family home after he was caught wearing his mother’s stockings. We follow the struggle of the young artist who eventually finds that success and tragedy go hand in hand when you are determined to live life to the full. The play draws on the words and thoughts of the artist in a new script by Garry Roost who also performs.

Garry Roost is critically acclaimed as an actor who “embodies his characters”. Garry has played the Arts Theatre (West End), Theatre Royal Stratford, Birmingham Rep & Citizens Theatre Glasgow. His TV credits include; East Enders, Black Books and The Day Today. ‘Pope Head’ is directed by Paul Garnault Artistic director and founder of the Wales Actors’ Company. Garry and Paul both graduated from East 15 Acting School in 1982.

What the critics said:
