Art that celebrates the excitement and drama of the racing industry. These oil paintings and charcoal drawings capture the great racing wins throughout the world.

“I have always been fascinated by horses. Growing up in the country both in the Yorkshire Dales, UK and near Cooma near the Snowy Mountains, riding was a natural pastime for a kid to gravitate to.

After leaving school and attending art school in Sydney I lost touch with horses for a while but I did develop my drawing skills by spending each and every day in the life drawing studio.

Some years back in the UK I viewed G.W Stubbs painting of Whistlejacket and decided on the spot that I wanted to become an equine artist. This seemed to be such an authentic choice of subject matter for me and constituted a real homecoming where I was being true to myself.

I have always been interested in the possibilities of light and shadow in defining form but lately I have been interested in the concept of tenebrism, where darkness becomes a dominant feature contrasted with a dramatic illumination of form. Charcoal is an excellent medium to explore this.

Drawing and painting horses has become my obsession and has developed into a worldwide following. My work is now in private collections in the UK, USA, China, Hong Kong, New Zealand and throughout Australia.”
